Never back down.
'Cause if it wasn't for you

If it wasn't for all of your torture.
I wouldn't know how capable i am to pull through.
And never back down.

But in the end, I wanna thank you, 'cause you made me that much stronger.

If I Were A Boy.

If I Were A Boy lyrics
If I were a boy even just for a day
I'd roll out of bed in the morning
And throw on what I wanted
And go drink beer with the guys

And chase after girls
I'd kick it with who I wanted
And I'd never get confronted for it
'Cause they stick up for me

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man

I'd listen to her
'Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
'Cause he's taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

If I were a boy
I would turn off my phone
Tell everyone it's broken
So they'd think that I was sleeping alone

I'd put myself first
And make the rules as I go
'Cause I know that she'd be faithful
Waiting for me to come home, to come home

If I were a boy
I think I could understand
How it feels to love a girl
I swear I'd be a better man

I'd listen to her
'Cause I know how it hurts
When you lose the one you wanted
'Cause he's taking you for granted
And everything you had got destroyed

It's a little too late for you to come back
Say it's just a mistake
Think I'd forgive you like that
If you thought I would wait for you
You thought wrong

But you're just a boy
You don't understand
And you don't understand, oh
How it feels to love a girl
Someday you wish you were a better man

You don't listen to her
You don't care how it hurts
Until you lose the one you wanted
'Cause you're taking her for granted
And everything you had got destroyed
But you're just a boy

I think the persona has been hurt by a guy before. That guy must have left an impression that he is not a good man and might have given the writer the impression that all guys are not good. The writer thinks that the guy neglects her by not caring about whether she gets hurt and taking her for granted. The guy is useless as he does not know how to lie to his friends so that they will not be disturbed when they are alone. She thinks that the guy should make the decisions instead of the girl and that he should know that she will listen to whatever he says. He should not suspect her of going out with other men, he should know that she will be faithful. She feels that he has done her wrong and she will not forgive him and wait for him anymore because he broke all her dreams and hopes, and it's a little too late. She wants the guy to understand how it feels to love someone and she wants him to look back and feel guilty about what he did and wants him to wish that he were a better man.

The tone of the song shows that the persona is sad and pathetic which display how deeply she is in hurt. It seems that she wanted revenge, she hopes to treat the guy like how the guy treated her-drink beer with the guys, chase after girls and be with who she wants. She wish to revamp the relationship, but it is useless because the guy isn't going to change, and it cause her to lose her trust in him. The persona wants to be a man very badly, because she knows how it feels to be hurt, she don't want to follow in the guy's step, she will treat her better and the persona knows that she'd be faithful, waiting for the persona to come home. She would become a better man, and listen to her. The guy don't know how the persona feels so he don't know that he had hurt the persona in a way that cause her to be sad. The guy don't know how a girl feels, how a girl can be so sensitive. When the guy is being taken for granted then he knows how it feels and everything he got is destroyed. If you were a boy, you think you could understand, but you are not a boy, so you simply can't understand.

Why we chose this song:
For girls, it's easier to relate if the girl had been in a relationship, and because every girl would be hurt in a relationship and they would probably wish to become a guy because in a relationship, the guy is at a greater advantage and usually, the girl's is at the guy's beck and call and so the girl also wish to become a guy so as to "seek revenge".

What the song is trying to convey:
Boys don't understand how it feels to love a girl, how it feels to be hurt.

Fighter Video

"it's about overcoming some hard time which who someone does you wrong. And in the end it's about thanking the person because it builds character, makes you a stronger person, makes you wiser and makes you fight through whatever situation you have to endure, and it makes you a fighter."

Basically, this video is saying you ever completely overcome the physical or in a lot of cases, emotional effects of abuse, but it is more to support those who have survived it and stayed strong despite the horrible things they have been put through.

The Needles part:
It's about going through a metamorphosis. A change. The pins and dolls at the start are about Christina being a 'puppet' and stabbed in the back, the needles were reflecting on her pain. She pulls them out and undergoes another change: from a caterpillar to a butterfly/moth.

The Cave part:
Means that she has broken free from a cocoon, or break free from anything that tried to hurt her, free from imprisonment, and now powerful and strong.

The Glass Box part:
Means that she is being trapped, and refrain from all freedom. Like an insect being trapped, and is fighting and breaking through the hardships, and when she breaks the glass box, means that she is free from all the torturing and had overcome the hardships.

The Moulting part:
The video is about evolution, from a caterpiller to a butterfly. Demonstrating how all of her struggles helped her transform into a stronger person, how she learn from her pain.
Represents the confined feeling of being alone, growing from the pain, and becoming more beautiful in the end.

Being a fighter = being gracious enough to just turn away and lead a life of their own.

After all you put me through
You'd think I'd despise you
But in the end I wanna thank you
'Cause you made me that much stronger

Well I, thought I knew you
Thinking, that you were true
Guess I, I couldn't trust
Called your bluff, time is up
'Cause I've had enough
You were, there by my side
Always, down for the ride
But your, joy ride just came down in flames
'Cause your greed sold me out of shame, mmhmm

After all of the stealing and cheating
You probably think that I hold resentment for you
But, uh uh, oh no, you're wrong
'Cause if it wasn't for all that you tried to do
I wouldn't know just how capable I am to pull through
So I wanna say thank you, cause it...

Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Never, saw it coming
All of, your backstabbing
Just so, you could cash in
On a good thing before I realized your game
I heard, you're going around
Playing, the victim now
But don't, even begin
Feeling I'm the one to blame
'Cause you dug your own grave,

After all of the fights and the lies cause you're wanted to haunt me
But that won't work anymore
Uh, no more, oh no, it's over
'Cause if it wasn't for all of your torture
I wouldn't know how to be this way now, and never back down
So I wanna say thank you

'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
Makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
It makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

How could this man I thought I knew
Turn out to be unjust, so cruel
Could only see the good in you
Pretended not to see the truth
You tried to hide your lies, disguise yourself
Through living in denial
But in the end you'll see
You won't stop me

I am a fighter and I
I ain't goin' stop
There is no turning back
I've had enough

Makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

Thought I would forget
But I, I remember
I'll remember, I'll remember

'Cause it makes me that much stronger
Makes me work a little bit harder
It makes me that much wiser
So thanks for making me a fighter
Made me learn a little bit faster
Made my skin a little bit thicker
Makes me that much smarter
So thanks for making me a fighter

The lyrics is basically about being strong and learning from your pain which who someone does you wrong, but in the end you don't hate that person, because he makes you that much stronger, makes you a smarter person and makes us fight through whatever hardships we have to endure. If it wasn't for all that the person tried to do, we wouldn't how capable we are able to pull through and never back down.
